Popteen Feb 2012 - Inspo

 Hi Hi~

It's been a while since I did my last mag inspo post, or even since I took the time to sit down and look at mags...

I want spring to come... but since we're going to be stuck with winter weather for a while and I'm still on my 2012 boom, I thought I'd look through the Feb 2012 issue of Popteen and share inspo with you!

Natsumin just shared egg's Feb 2012 issue over on her blog!

Unfortunately I don't have the physical magazine so I'm just going to be looking at scans. I'll try not to make this too long w

Mood music:
the perfect 2012 album, it really makes my heart feel a certain way. I hope you listen to it while reading along with me!

Let's get started ~

This is one of the cutest covers! It's so colorful and pastel... You can watch the bts of the shoot for it on YouTube

We've got a spread dedicated to Fukubukuro, which will be an ongoing theme in this issue...

After a few more ads, we get to the section where the girls share what's in their Fukubukuro and what vibe they have!

"Girly kei" fukubukuro has a 2 page spread, and that's very indicative of the trends that are about to explode at this point

The brands that are shared here are of course Liz Lisa and its offshoots; Ank Rouge, Dazzlin, Rojita (which I'll admit I didn't realize was a thing back then! I thought they were relatively new) and a few others. It's very beige/pink/white with some check patterns.

A page for "yancha kei", which I never heard of until now... basically a vibe like a naughty child?!

WC, One Spo, COCOLULU, and MarpleQ are some of the brands here. I feel like it definitely has some Harajuku influence

Then we've got the "Cool" style girls

Cecil McBee, Lip Service, Gilfy, and Glad News are some of the brands, which are often featured in other magazines with more of a "cool" vibe. Black and red are starting to stand out as "theme colors" through this issue...

This one is called "super flashy" kei

ANAP, JSG, and TuTuHA are the brands featured.

Then there's a really helpful spread... "Cheap and cute"!!! This is what I need w

WEGO, Spinns, and and Shimamura are some of the brands featured here. And as expected, they have the cheapest fukubukuro

Moving on...

There's a section where the models make their own dream fukubukuro! How cute is that  It gives me inspo for a blog post...

I LOVE the items in Pikarin's set... I would never wear that red skull sweater but it looks so good on her ahhh

There is a four-page ad for the "new" Popteen smartphone... I love this so much!!

Ok, we're here to find inspo... and we've finally found some! A huge section dedicated to animal print! Always trendy, but as Natsumin pointed out in her post about egg 2/2012, it was really booming at this time.

And outside of animal print, they go on to cover animal-inspired looks like cats, bunnies, dalmatians, and bambi print...

I absolutely love animal themes and this section has given me tons of inspo!

Next is a really cool segment... They talk about different articles of clothing that they use to have co*des of a certain vibe... Mizukitty's got a really cute beige "retro" coat to give her a "natural cute" vibe, and so on... and my favorites are these two:

Okarie's white tulle skirt with "fairytale girl" vibes

And Pikarin's white salopette. It says "sweet gothic" vibes but I don't really see it... Either way it's cute!

And now to another trend... Beige x Red!

Don't they look so sweet?! Red is certainly the color of February... It makes me wish I had more red in my closet

Beige, white, and red makes you a moe girl~ So cute!

I really like this co*de with the brown jacked... let's be honest, I love anything with patterned tights lol. I can definitely recreate this with my closet!

And omg this one is even cuter! Who else remembers the black bow trend on tops... The patterned tights are super cute too! I'll try to recreate this one as best I can, too~

And now to the part of the issue that gets a little bit...controversial

This is when otona kei first really took off! And I know a lot of people really don't like it because, well, it's more modest and not very sexy, and many people don't even consider it gal at all.

But personally? I love it. This is when I first started getting into jfashion and all my clothes were otona kei without even realizing that's what it was called! And I can see the influences that are my boom right now too.

I love this pink sweater co*de with the oversized peal necklace!

And these omg, they're perfect. I want to try editing my pics in this manner...

These are so cute too! I really thought I was over the black ribbon like 8 years ago but I feel a renewed love for it after this issue.

I really really like this co*de... It makes me want that oversized knit and some pink pants.

Finally some hair inspo from this ad!

Okay, this post is getting so long... Sorry! Did you find some inspo, too?
I'm going to try recreating a few of these co*des this month
I haven't gotten dressed up in a while and this is making me excited.
Talk to you again real soon!
